Our Saturdays…

When do you review your farm plans? When do you plan anew? When do you carry out maintenance works like the fence, the farm roads? For us, it is on Saturday!!

It is important to set aside  day to do your farm maintenance work or else, you may never get to do it until you realise that you are leaving like a bush man!!.

On Saturdays, we do not wake up as early as other days. After breakfast, the manager divides us into groups. Some are to do farm fence repairs, while others renew the farm tools.

One group assembles all the farm tools. These are cleaned and those that need sharpening, are sharpened. Sometimes, we have those that need repairs. These too are set aside and sent to Apac town for repair; if and only if they cannot be repaired appropriately in the village.

Another group takes a tour with the manager along the boundaries of the farm. The intention is to repair the fences that have either been eaten by termites or broken by our or the neighbors animals.

In the afternoon hours, we all get together and clean up the farm roads. This helps keep the farm tidy. During the rainy season, they are not clogged, helping both the workers and animals trod on drier ground.

What do you do on Saturdays? You should adopt a practice like ours.
